Safe on line – Laptops, desktops, tablets or phones – it’s difficult from accidentally visiting inappropriate websites.
So I thought I’d share this free service with you (free for home use only) from Norton/Symantec.
The service redirects all internet based traffic through their filtering servers..so if you or your little darlings type in or click on a link to an inappropriate site, it’s blocked and their delicate little eyes are protected from the evils of the internet..
To set it up…enter these two numbers into your router under DNS:
Preferred DNS: 156.154.70.1
Alternate DNS: 156.154.71.1
Restart the router.
Now anyone connected to your wifi using any device will be safe from sites such as sexually explicit material, sites that feature mature content, abortion, alcohol, crime, drugs, file sharing, gambling, hate, suicide, tobacco or violence.
If you want to only restrict certain devices like the iPad, or home desktop, but allow all other devices normal access, simply enter the two numbers into the selected devices DNS settings and restart.
